Tribute & Message From The Family

Robert R. (Bob) Wine, 81, passed away August 19, 2013 at Prince William Hospital. He was a lifelong resident of Manassas. He is survived by his wife Roletta, sister, Mary, children, Judy and Dale, and grandchildren Casey, Erin and Kate.

Bob was a longtime member of the Manassas Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and sang in the Sanctuary Choir. There he also enjoyed many other responsibilities. He was well known for his many skills for which he was called upon often. But, for those who are fortunate enough to have any of his cabinetry or a home that he built, count yourselves among the lucky. That is what he loved to do and did so well. His generous spirit, dry wit and selflessness will be missed by all that knew him.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-9:00 P.M. Thursday, August 22, 2013 at Manassas Baptist Church, 8800 Sudley Road, Manassas where funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M. Friday, August 23, 2013 with Dr. William T. Higgins officiating. Interment will follow at Stonewall Memory Gardens, Manassas.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Manassas Baptist Church, 8800 Sudley Road, Manassas, Virginia 20110 in loving memory of Bob Wine.

Condolences may be sent to www.piercefh.com.

Condolence & Memory Journal

Aunt Roletta, Judy and Dale: My heartfelt thought and prayers are with you, your familes and all those who held Uncle Bob dear. What I hold most cherished in my memories of Uncle Bob is of course is love for his family but most of all his love for Christ. As his earthly presence is missed, I pray there's daily peace in the knowledge that he touched so many lives and rests with his Saviour.

Love & peace,
Devra

My deepest sympathy goes to Bob's family and friends. My mother was a caretaker for Roletta and helped Bob with the keeping of their home. Mom told me many stories about how kind Bob was to her, and how he was like a father to her. He was a very caring and kind man. Rest in peace with the Lord, forever.

Our family has lost a treasured member-Uncle Bob was so kind to everyone and always made us laugh. My summer visits are treasured memories- trips to Klines, the drive-in, visiting relatives in the "country" as we called the area as kids. Judy and Dale, you and your families are in my thoughts and prayers.
Your Dad will be deeply missed by so many.

Judy I read about your father. I am so very sorry for your loss. You are one of the lucky ones that had both parents for such a long time. Cherish those memories. He will forever be an important part of your life. My thoughts and prayers to you and your family. I do remember him being very "handy"

I was saddened to hear that my friend passed away, but I wanted to share this. I was working on a 1904 house in Wash DC, and had some custom moulding that I made, but needed help in cutting it with a coping saw, well the only one that I could think of was Mr. Robert Wine. I went to his cabinet shop on Signial Hill rd. with my problem, I asked him for help, and he just smiled, and said it is to be cut backward, ? What ? He smiled again, and said it was tricking your self, but do it backward, and taking the saw, he showed me how the joint was cut by hand, ( and he made a perfect fitting joint ) then made me do it in front of him, to show that I was leaning, so Mr. Wine, Thank you, and God Bless you.

What a good friend. When anyone asked Bob for a favor he would try his best to grant it. A big heart and good soul. I will miss his humor and wit. Every time that I use the sound booth in the sanctuary at MBC, I will think of him.

I am saddened by the loss of a very good man. Sadly, I am out of town and cannot be there to express my condolances. I first met Bob when I joined the choir at Manassas Baptist. He became a friend to a young man who moved into Manassas from Connecticut--no questions asked. My son always looked up to him and whenever he came back to Manassas, he wanted to see Bob. Bob made cabinets for me and argued that I paid him too much. He relented when I told him my wife would be angry if he didn't take it. The last few years have been tough for him, but he remained the same old Bob I met almost 40 years ago. He is a friend whom I will miss. He lived well and is on his way to another adventure.
