Jane Marie Shutlock, 78, of Manassas, VA, passed away on July 13, 2013 at the Fairfax Nursing Center from complications caused by acute myeloid leukemia. She was the widow of Michael Andrew (Mickey) Shutlock. Born in Schenectady, NY, on April 7, 1935, she was preceded in death by her parents, James and Genevieve Haggerty; a brother, Richard Haggerty; and a sister, Joan Lipscomb. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Robert Cozzie of Fairfax, VA; three beautiful grandchildren, Michael, David and Maria Cozzie; two brothers, Bobby and Michael Haggerty and her sister-in-law, Kay Haggerty, all of Roanoke VA; nieces Susan Walters and Jane Hoopman; nephew Allen Haggerty; two great nephews and four great nieces; and her beloved friend, John Mallick.

She had been a nun with the Benedictine Sisters for over twenty years, where she obtained her degree in nursing. After leaving the convent, she worked as a registered nurse at Prince William Hospital in various departments, and eventually became the Quality Assurance Director for the Medical Staff and a Hospital Case Manager. After her retirement from Prince William Hospital, she continued to work part-time for the medical office of Dr. Paul Desper. Her colleagues and peers considered her a dedicated and caring professional and those who knew her held her in great respect. Her professional success was matched only by the love for her daughter and her pride as a grandmother. She was an extraordinary woman who loved unconditionally and she will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 18, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Pierce Funeral Home in Manassas, VA (tel: 703-257-6028). Online condolences may be made at www.piercefh.com. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 19, 2013 at St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, followed by a reception at Columbus Grill from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
